Emergency Bolts

Emergency bolts are similar to panic bolts in that they are designed to provide a quick and easy exit from a building in emergency situations. However, emergency bolts are typically used on single doors, whereas panic bolts are designed for use on double doors or doors with a rebated meeting stile.

Emergency bolts are usually operated by a lever, handle or button, which is connected to a bolt that secures the door. When the lever , handle or button is pushed, the bolt retracts, allowing the door to be opened. Emergency bolts can be installed on a variety of doors, including wooden, metal, and glass doors.

Like panic bolts, emergency bolts are subject to safety standards, such as EN 179, which specifies requirements for emergency exit devices used on escape routes. This standard sets out specific requirements for the design, installation, and performance of emergency bolts, such as the amount of force required to operate the device.
